10.13. Belenggu
“Para bhikkhu, ada sepuluh belenggu ini. Apakah sepuluh ini?
Lima belenggu yang lebih rendah dan lima belenggu yang lebih tinggi.
Dan apakah lima belenggu yang lebih rendah?
Pandangan eksistensi-diri,
keragu-raguan,
genggaman salah pada perilaku dan upacara,
keinginan indria, dan
niat buruk.
Ini adalah kelima belenggu yang lebih rendah itu.
Dan apakah lima belenggu yang lebih tinggi?
Nafsu pada bentuk, nafsu pada tanpa-bentuk,
keangkuhan,
kegelisahan,
dan ketidak-tahuan.
Ini adalah kelima belenggu yang lebih tinggi itu. Ini, para bhikkhu, adalah kesepuluh belenggu itu.”

13. Fetters
“Mendicants, there are ten fetters. What ten? The five lower fetters and the five higher fetters. What are the five lower fetters? Identity view, doubt, misapprehension of precepts and observances, sensual desire, and ill will. These are the five lower fetters.
What are the five higher fetters? Desire for rebirth in the realm of luminous form, desire for rebirth in the formless realm, conceit, restlessness, and ignorance. These are the five higher fetters. These are the ten fetters.”
